Peter received the news that he was developing Parkinson's disease. Following recommendations from his doctors, Peter gave up his full-time role at Compassion in World Farming but remained on the governing board for several more years. He never complained about being inflicted by the disease and once joked “if anyone knows this chap called Parkinson, then I’d like to give it back”.
